Frequently Asked Questions
How accurate are the tax estimates?
Tax estimates use 2024 US federal tax brackets and standard deductions. They include FICA (Social Security and Medicare) but don't include state/local taxes, pre-tax deductions (401k, HSA), or other adjustments. Use this for rough estimates only.
What is FICA?
FICA stands for Federal Insurance Contributions Act. It includes Social Security (6.2% on income up to $160,200 in 2024) and Medicare (1.45% on all income). These are separate from federal income tax.
Why isn't my actual paycheck this amount?
Your actual paycheck may differ due to state/local taxes, pre-tax deductions (401k, health insurance, HSA), post-tax deductions, and other withholdings not included in these estimates.
Can I customize hours worked?
Yes! Adjust 'Hours per Week' and 'Weeks per Year' to match your work schedule. Default is 40 hours/week and 52 weeks/year (2,080 hours annually).
